Poet Commentaries

Concocting I

I write the following poem in response to the question “Does Intelligence have any value in today’s society”  Though it is of great personal worth I do believe that it has little value outside of that sphere and amongst good friends and families.

.

Concocting I

I suck in fast and hard
my mouth wide open,
tongue curled and lolling about;
a sail looking for full,
a venturi
that atomizes the cream
with the moist air
to test the quality
of the whipped cream.

.

An “edible oil product”
always has an aftertaste.

.
The ingredients in I
are not a long list
there are no substitutes.
Portions must be perfect,
mingled and mixed just so.
.

It is a bit daunting
grinding down a chip
taken from Wisdom’s pillar,
that reach into a prickly bush
to get the ripest Charity
running home with it
through traffic and time
before it prunes
or bruises.

.

Dig deep and dark,
use a swine to suss out
truffles and Grace.
To really impress
wait until the third
blink of an eye
before you add
and let peace age
to get the best flavor.

.

Knowledge is easy
take what you have
and fold it in last,
with that simmer pot
over the stove
you now know is hot.

.

If you’ve no heart or time
go ahead and buy AI,
there among Zirconia
and the Mallorca pearls
but remember the poor bots
that slaved over the rote
never leaving their stool
steaming in a bowl.

.

(Even AI has value
and should not be cast
before the swine,
Trumped, Trudeaued and tramped
until it is dust)
